Audio Book Bolla: A Novel with Free EASY Reading!

If you're looking for positive, uplifting, and inspiring queer fiction from Pajtim and his books, he's not the author for you, his works won't be for you, but in neither case does this make his work less revelatory. I basically love everything that Patjim writes and Bolla is no exception! Patjim's work is lyrical, dark, graphic, gory, and moody with never a happy ending in sight, and that's what I like about him, is the nuance he brings into murkier queer narratives that also deserve to be told.In Bolla, we have a character, Arsim, that is NOT likeable. He is terrible and abusive to his wife and he despises his children, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, he's selfish to the bone. So why should we keep reading his story? Another quality that I always enjoy about Patjim is how he weaves war/militancy into his stories, which gives it a depth, a layer, that makes his work so unique. In this case, it's the war between Albania and Serbia. In Bolla, we have two star-crossed lovers, Arsim, an Albanian, and his lover Miloš, a Serb. Even if you know nothing about the history behind the Albanian/Serbian war, it's still riveting, fascinating, and oh so interesting especially when you go into this with an open mind. Like with all of Patjim's works, that's how you have to enjoy him at best, is with an open mind. Bolla is a pretty short read and for me was a breeze, I was hooked and read it pretty quickly because it was as rich and amazing as My Cat Yugoslavia and Crossing. Bolla has a cast of characters that are truly unforgettable. Bolla is a story that has meat and bones on it, that is just so thought-provoking and beautifully written with so much vivid and stunning mythological imagery and that gives you so much to think about from beginning to end. It's just ridiculously good and so worth any hype and praise that will undoubtedly come its way.
